Fire Safety Plan Development

Fire Safety Plans are a requirement for almost all buildings under both National and Provincial Fire Codes, be approved by the authority having jurisdiction; in most cases this would be the local fire service.

A Fire Safety Plan is designed to provide occupant safety procedures in the event of a fire, guidance and instruction in effective use of the buildings fire safety features, and used as a consistent standard for occupant and supervisory staff (First Responders)  training to assist in minimizing the potential and impact  of fire related emergencies.

Fire Safety Plans also incorporate procedures for Hazardous Materials Spills and Building Fire Evacuation drill procedures.

Further to these requirements, and also unique to NLS Group, a Fire Safety Plan is designed to provide tactical information to responding municipal emergency services (both police and fire) in identifying industry and building specific hazards, potential obstacles that Emergency Services may face when responding to the facility, and a clear overview of building critical infrastructure – allowing first responders to rapidly gain an understanding of “what’s in your building.”  The better your fire safety plan, the faster critical – life saving information is available.

Clear and concise tools such as use of life safety systems, smoke control, floor drawings, isolation points for sprinklers, HVAC, gas and electrical can decrease response times and contribute to firefighter safety and enhanced occupant safety.

Building / Workplace Supervisory Staff Training

Building management, supervisory personnel and stadium hospitality tenants must know the details of the Stadium’s Fire Safety Plan and be able to implement it in the event of a fire related emergency. To ensure this, building Supervisory Staff must be trained, and the training documented.

The Fire Code requires the owner to be responsible for carrying out the provisions for fire safety, and defines “owner” as any “person, firm or corporation controlling the property under consideration”.

At National Life Safety Group, our industry leading training program meets local, national and even select international standards.  Our programs are reality based and interactive, and are based on your building’s approved fire safety plan.  Classroom instruction with active group participation that keeps the participants engaged.  A snapshot of what we review with your team;
