Building Confidence, Building Safety: Delivering the Second Training Cohort with The Ottawa Mission
National Life Safety Group is proud to continue our partnership with The Ottawa Mission in delivering an innovative fire and life safety training program designed to create new career pathways in building management.
This week marked the second delivery of the program for the second group of participants, this time led by NLSG’s own Kaitlyn Cooke, a passionate educator whose expertise and passion for safety education continue to make a lasting impact.
"This initiative represents more than technical training — it’s a collaboration rooted in community development, empowerment, and meaningful skill-building" says Jason Reid, Senior Advisor with National Life Safety Group. "Participants are gaining not only fire code knowledge and practical emergency response skills but also the confidence to pursue new professional opportunities in the built environment."
“What stands out most is the engagement and enthusiasm of each participant,” says Kaitlyn, “You can see the pride in their learning and the growing sense of confidence as they begin to connect these principles to real-life safety and building operations.”
The energy and engagement of this second cohort were inspiring, with participants eager to understand how fire and life safety practices directly contribute to safer buildings and stronger communities. The partnership between The Ottawa Mission and National Life Safety Group demonstrates what’s possible when organizations come together with a shared commitment to education and public safety.
We look forward to continuing this important work — helping people build futures through safety, and helping communities thrive through knowledge.
