    Jason Reid is a recognized building fire safety & emergency management specialist, known for innovative best practices in the integration of fire, safety & security in protecting critical infrastructure, high-rise buildings, mass venue & high / low risk facilities with vulnerable populations. Jason is a Provincially recognized Instructor in Emergency Management and certified 1035 Level I Fire & Life Safety Public Educator. He is a sought after industry speaker and has been recognized by his peers for his passionate delivery of critical lessons learned and free sharing of best practices.

  • Hossam Shalabi, P.Eng., Ph.D., CFEI Special Advisor

    Dr. Shalabi is an international fire & explosion expert with over 20 years of engineering experience. Dr. Shalabi has positioned himself as a leader in fire risk engineering, code alternative solution, fire & explosion forensics, and risk-based cost-benefit analysis.

    Dr. Shalabi worked with international agencies, such as International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA), and the European Space Agency (ESA). Dr. Shalabi is a part-time professor at the University of Ottawa, and he also worked at National Research Council Canada (Codes Canada), Canadian Nuclear Laboratories, Atomic Energy Canada Limited, Suncor Energy Inc., Sanmina, and various engineering consultants.

    Dr. Shalabi holds a Ph.D. in Fire Safety Engineering from Carleton University, as well as a Master of Engineering Management from the University of Ottawa, a Master of Fire Safety Engineering from Carleton University, a Certificate in Fire Code Administration from Algonquin College, and a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from the University of Ottawa.

    Pedro Moreira is a recognized NFPA 1035 Fire and Safety Public Educator and is a graduate of Seneca College’s Fire Protection Engineering Technology program.

    He specializes in building critical infrastructure and life safety systems, building and facility fire safety planning, technical safety planning and technical CAD drawing and floor plan development.

    Pedro is also a certified Instructor for the Fire Safety Plan Implementation Training Program for residential buildings for National Life Safety Group.

    Kyle is a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and Certified Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP). Additionally, he has received a Certificate in Disaster & Emergency Management from Ryerson University, a Bachelor of Management and Organizational Studies with specialization in Organizational and Human Resources from the University of Western Ontario.

    Kyle is a security and emergency management professional with concentrated experience in the development of successful programs, plans, exercises and education.

    His skillset includes CPTED, security system design, Audit & Assessment, policy and procedure development, report writing, exercise development, emergency planning, emergency management, training and development.
