One of the greatest priveledges we have here at National Life Safety Group is to work with dedicated building management teams in their commitment to both fire code compliance, but more importantly, to ensure their teams are prepared.

NLS Group supports a vast array of building management teams in working through their requirements under the Ontario Fire Code. One significant role and responsibility to the requirement to conductr Fire and Evacuation drills.

What are the objectives of fire drills?

  • Comply with the Fire Code’s mandatory requirement for conducting fire drills.

  • Provide scheduled opportunities for comprehensive fire emergency response training for supervisory staff (those persons delegated with specific duties to carry out during a fire emergency) and others;

  • Determine whether designated supervisory staff can competently respond in accordance with the emergency fire and evacuation procedures;

  • Determine whether supervisory staff respond in a timely manner to carry out their duties;

  • Provide an opportunity for facility Occupants to obtain important feedback on drill results.

  • Assess the ongoing effectiveness of the emergency procedures under different fire scenario conditions; and

  • Provide opportunities for building occupants, tenants, and employer fire wardens to re-familiarize themselves with emergency procedures, life safety systems, and egress options and evacuation challenges and considerations – In a non-emergency situation.
